Karl-Marx-Allee 85 – an unusual address for a fashion project. Yet the architecture and atmosphere of this legendary street are a good fit for the unusual concept of the “workaholic fashion store”. The owners Carolin Kamenz and Fabian Russmeyer found the perfect place here for their elegant, minimalist shop, as well as their office and a storeroom.

The focus at “workaholic” is on electronic music. Besides casual street wear and clothes for nights out which are a ways off the beaten path, they sell the CDs and records of artists and labels that they’re friendly with. Their specialty: a new clothing collection is released every three months under the name “DJs and workaholics”. DJs or producers help interpret their workaholic attitude and use it to develop the prints that will adorn the fronts of t-shirts, tank tops and sweatshirts. For every collection, there is a track especially produced for workaholic.

The founders gave up their secure jobs in order to throw themselves fully into their passion for electronic music and fashion. “The urge to make, to achieve, and to work at it with sweat and blood motivated us from the very beginning,” says Carolin Kamenz.

The idea was to combine fashion with a sort of distributing agency for DJs. Besides their own collections, workaholic developed ambitious merchandise for DJs and music labels. For example, the collection of the well-known Berlin label “Vakant”, which can be found in workaholic, displays the unconventional artwork from a selection of the label’s record sleeves. For “Killekill”, flyer artwork from their established “Freaks” nights was used and developed into a collection. Since October, workaholic has had the new “Dirty Doering” merchandise collection in store.

In Juni 2011, workaholic moved shop from Kreuzberg’s Ritterstr. to Karl-Marx-Allee. This is where the new “DJs are workaholics” collections were born, designed by people who, like the store’s owners, enjoy living and working in such a passionate and determined manner.

In store, you’ll also find a few pieces, hand-picked by our young Berliner designers as their favourites. All clothing is also available from our online shop. But personal advice and tips for going out in Berlin are only available in store.
