RambaZamba is the theater company at Sonnenuhr,
the Berlin Art Center for people with so-called mental disabilities. Since this “totally crazy“ theater troupe was founded in 1991, it has staged twenty full-length plays in two groups (directed by Gisela Höhne and Klaus Erforth, respectively). Art and theater critics, the media, and the public recognize RambaZamba as Germany‘s leading integrative theater (Mainzer Allgemeine) at which disability is experienced as strength (Frankfurter Rundschau).

The company has been invited to festivals and renowned theaters both in Germany and abroad (the World Fairs in Lisbon and Hannover, the Akademietheater, the annex of Vienna‘s Burgtheater, Zurich, Graz, Munich, Dresden, Hamburg, Leipzig). Well known theater personalities and artists participate in the company‘s performances and activities, because “RambaZamba is the only theater that does not suffer from a crisis in meaning. Tragedy is transformed into a message of good cheer“ (Frank Castorf, director and producer at the Berliner Volksbühne).
